Landing gear refers to an aircraft or spacecraft undercarriage system, supporting its weight and load, letting it land, take off, and taxi without being damaged. Mostly the landing gear comprises three wheels but some airplanes are equipped with skis for the purpose of landing on snow-covered areas or operating on the surface of water.
